Science Observations and Writing

Last week the students observed a dragonfly and we discussed the similarities and differences between it and butterflies. The class loved having a chance to get hands on with their writing and Caleb did a great job as our photographer.

Writing with Mrs. Phares

We have been learning to write stories during writing time, and the kids are having so much fun! Mrs. Phares, our academic coach, gets to join in on some of the lessons. Today we talked about finger spaces, capitalization, and punctuation. The students got to use dry erase boards and markers which made the lesson even more fun!

Building Reading Stamina

We got to visit the book room this week and started building reading stamina. We can now read for 12 minutes without stopping. Our goal is to get to 20 minutes, because each station rotation will last 20 minutes.  Our photographer this week, Hank, took some pictures in our book room so you could see what it looks like!

First Read Aloud

We had our first parent read aloud today. Thank you so much for coming, Mrs. Crites!

Also, the students all got a free book yesterday! I hope you had a chance to check them out. It was a great experience for all of them, and it made me so happy to see how excited they were about their new books.
